Womtech: LEYRE RODRIGUEZ

IT SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Today we meet Leyre Rodriguez. With a background in Mathematics and a passion for technology, Leyre has carved out a path in the IT industry and now plays a key role as IT Senior Project Manager within the Holcim EMEA Digital Center PMO Team, currently leading the Rock & Mix project in France.

Do you think diversity and gender equality are a reality in the tech industry today?

I believe we’re heading in the right direction, and the progress made in recent years has been meaningful. However, there’s still work to be done. Many situations we’ve come to accept as “normal” actually reveal that full gender equality is still a work in progress. That’s why it’s so important to keep raising awareness and pushing for real, lasting change.

What qualities make a great leader—and what do you think women bring to leadership?

A great leader must be able to inspire and motivate others, communicate clearly, make smart and timely decisions, and foster an inclusive and empowering environment.
Women often bring strong emotional intelligence, empathy, and a collaborative spirit to leadership. For me, a true leader takes pride in their team’s growth and celebrates collective achievements above individual success.

Who is your role model or source of inspiration?

Inspiration often comes from those closest to us. My parents shaped a lot of my early values—both through traits I admire and those I strive to do differently.
I also feel lucky to have a diverse circle of friends across different professions, and I draw strength from watching my female friends grow and succeed in their careers. Their resilience is contagious.
At Holcim, I’ve had the chance to work with some truly inspiring professionals—people who lead by example and who put team success at the heart of everything. Because in the end, there’s no real leadership without an engaged, empowered team.

How do you see your role contributing to a more sustainable future?

While it might not always be obvious how our day-to-day work connects to sustainability, in the case of the Rock & Mix project, the link is clear. We're helping to deliver high-quality construction and demolition material (CDM) solutions, which directly support a more sustainable future through better resource management and reduced environmental impact.
