Womtech: CLAUDIA TUESTA

Meet Claudia Tuesta, a Functional Consultant on the Book to Report (B2R) team and a driving force as Scrum Master and Agile Methodology Ambassador at Holcim EMEA Digital Center. With a background in Industrial Design Engineering, Claudia's journey into the digital realm began with a pivotal SAP course. Today, she's a specialist in SAP Finance, where she excels at transforming countries' financial and accounting requirements into powerful SAP solutions. Her work directly supports operational excellence and strategic decision-making within the organization.

Do you think diversity and gender equality are a reality in the tech industry today?
While there has been increasing awareness and some progress, diversity and gender equality are not yet a full reality in the tech industry today. Even though I've never felt discriminated against in the workplace, the reality is that women are still a minority in tech, especially in leadership and technical roles. Even though we are heading in the right direction, there's clearly more to accomplish in this field.

What qualities make a great leader and what do you think women bring to leadership?
A great leader demonstrates a clear vision for the project and the team's objectives, effectively communicating this vision while also demonstrating empathy and understanding. They inspire and build trust within the team, expertly solving problems and making decisive choices regarding solutions and the path forward. Women often bring a collaborative mindset and a people-centered approach that enriches leadership dynamics.

Who is your role model or source of inspiration?
My parents have been my greatest inspiration, teaching me the value of effort and perseverance. I also find daily motivation in my colleagues at Holcim, whose teamwork and commitment to continuous improvement inspire me.

How do you see your role contributing to a more sustainable future?
My role is to focus on ensuring our digital solutions align with the company's changing needs, especially as environmental responsibility has become a pillar of this company. Technology, in my view, is essential for driving sustainability. My work involves integrating these advancements into the business’ everyday processes and help critical decision-making, which I hope will foster smarter approaches contributing to a truly sustainable and eco-friendly landscape for our sector.
