I&O EMEA Cloud Engineer

DESCRIPTION

The I&O EMEA Cloud Engineer is the Subject Matter Expert in I&O Cloud Infrastructure supporting IT solutions for Holcim business processes, and strategic goals, in the EMEA region with a global perspective. The I&O EMEA Cloud Engineer is responsible for promptly implementing the infrastructure requirements identified during IT assessment of the business needs and operating the solutions already implemented.
The position works closely with third party partners (offshore and nearshore) and is able to maximize the contribution of the team members inside Holcim and third parties, ensuring high-quality in the solution delivered and customer satisfaction in the interactions to address an IT need.
Reporting Line: Direct report to the Cloud Infrastructure Track Lead

RESPONSIBILITIES

● Drives continuous improvement of the operations of the services in his/her scope, supervising third parties as applicable, with an objective of security, optimization, simplification and automation first.

● Supports project teams during the various project phases, supervising third parties as applicable.

● Ensures that the infrastructure implemented at project/program level is aligned with the infrastructure architecture standards.

● Drives change and innovation by proactively spotting possible future practices, solutions, incremental improvements and trends in the marketplace. Moves beyond traditional ways of doing things and pushes past the status quo.

● Ensures effective communication to all the relevant stakeholders for activities performed under his/her scope of authority. Facilitates an open dialogue with a wide variety of contributors and shareholders.

● Becomes a trusted advisor and is seen as a core contributor to IT performance.

● Anticipates land mines and plans approach accordingly. Maneuvers through complex process and people-related organizational dynamics.

● Finds acceptable alternatives that satisfy the needs of multiple stakeholders.

● In collaboration with IT counterparts and staff, assess, verify and document IT technical requirements to support business-driven technology solutions.

● Manages complex change requests on regional applications in adherence to regional change management processes and internal control requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

● Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related discipline.
● Distinctive qualifications relating to his/her area of expertise:

○ MCSA or MCSE Core Infrastructure is mandatory.
○ RHCSA/RHCE/SCA/SCE are nice to have.
○ AWS certifications: DevOps Engineer is preferred, SysOps Admin or Solutions Architect as the minimum.

● 7+ years of related work experience. 4+ years of expert technical knowledge with the solution:

○ Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Server administration (including IIS, KMS, PKI, IAS) and automated patching and deployment with SCCM, Altiris or equivalent.
○ Experience in Linux Server administration.
○ Proven experience working in AWS IaaS and IaaC.
○ Experience with Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop is appreciated.

● Advanced experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis to day-to-day management.
● Strong leadership skills with experience building and managing effectively third parties (including offshore and nearshore service providers).
● Effective in prioritizing and executing tasks in a high-pressure environment.
● Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills in English. Spanish, French or German would be an advantage.
● Extensive experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.

● Ability to build trust relationships with internal personnel and external providers, onsite and remote. Demonstrated ability to network in a complex matrix type organization structure. Ability to build good working relationships with providers.
