I&O CLOUD ENGINEER

 

DESCRIPTION

Under the general direction of the Corporate/Global I&O Zone Head and the technical direction of the I&O Digital Engineering Manager, the Global/Corporate, I&O Cloud Engineer is responsible for the design, build, maintenance and lifecycle support of infrastructure environments assigned to the digital engineering function. The role is responsible for all associated infrastructure services that are required to ensure the stability, functionality, evolution and performance for I&O delivered services.

He/she collaborates with all appropriate stakeholder groups to ensure the agility, performance and
security of the assigned products/infrastructure services.
The main purpose of this position is to ensure that the operation of infrastructure or serverless
solutions hosted in AWS meets the business requirements and expectations in terms of
performance, availability, security and continuity.
The I&O Cloud Engineer executes complex tasks and drives the transfer of knowledge for tasks
that are appropriate for the Managed Service Provider, to off-shore teams. He/she follows up on
Managed Service Provider’s teams quality of execution to ensure that the tasks are executed
according to expectations.
The main challenges for the incumbent are the following:

• Deal with complex technical environments, policy, organizational issues and with
multi-dimensional problems.

• Deliver services to different IT organizations and countries across the zone.

• Design, build, operate and coordinate the end-to-end lifecycle of digital products and services
in very close partnership with peers in the Digital Center, I&O and other key stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide design, support, installation, and configuration expertise for all infrastructure associated
with Digital Products.

• Drive automation and infrastructure-as-code usage in conjunction with CI/CD pipelines.

• Provide full-stack support for the infrastructure associated with I&O delivered services.

• Provide after-hours support as needed, including a rotating 24x7 on-call support schedule.

• Proactively review and apply enhancements, upgrades and patches as required.

• Provide proactive improvement, technical upgrades, and support of IaaS and PaaS services.

• Determine and implement proper monitoring points and tuning alerts to be able to monitor the
environments proactively with automated healing.

• Create and maintain systems administration documentation outlining administration policies and
practices.

• Support the incident escalation process as needed.

• Support the Managed Service Provider teams to ensure that required tasks are performed in a
high-quality manner and in alignment with the requested specification.

• Define and execute Operational Procedures and enhance daily operational functions.

• Health and Safety: ensure excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) by providing visible leadership and
driving for the execution of the basics of the H&S operating model and adherence to Group H&S
standards and policies.

reliability.

○ Managed Service Provider: collaboration and follow-up for daily operation activities.

○ I&O Foundation Support: collaboration to ensure adoption and tuning of appropriate
systems/tools to facilitate the proper availability of systems.

PROFILE REQUIRED

Level of education/qualifications normally required:

○ Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related discipline.

○ Distinctive qualifications relating to his/her area of expertise.

○ Desirable to have one or more of the following:

■ AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate level or above.
■ AWS Certified Developer - Associate level or above.
■ AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate level or above.
■ GCP Certified Cloud Engineer - Associate level or above.

Specific work experience:

○ Experience working with offshore outsourcing organizations.

○ Experience in global roll-out management.

○ Implementation experience of infrastructure tools (monitoring, backup,
provisioning…).

○ Strong scripting experience.

○ At least 5 years of experience in domain.

Technical/functional skills:

○ Expert in infrastructure operations, performance tuning and lifecycle management.

○ Expert knowledge and understanding of Cloud providers service offering (mostly
PaaS and IaaS).

○ Strong working knowledge of Micro-services and optimization of cloud hosted
systems primarily in AWS.

○ Experience working with APIs, CLI and SDKs.

○ Understanding of application lifecycle management.

○ Experience with at least one high-level programming language (e.g. Python, Java,
C/C++, Ruby, JSON, YAML and JavaScript).

○ Experience with continuous integration and distribution pipelines.

○ Developing, deploying, debugging cloud infrastructures with a clear ability to define
scalable, highly available, fault tolerant architecture.

○ Experience working with containers in the development process.

○ Strong working knowledge in automation and IaC framework tools (e.g. Terraform,
GitLab, Atlantis).

○ Knowledge of Citrix XenApp, Netscalar and associated solutions.

○ Knowledge of licensing mechanisms and compliance for Microsoft, Oracle and
other key software providers.

○ Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.

○ Broad range of understanding of ITIL, ITSM and industry best practices.

○ Ability to understand and deliver infrastructure services which are provided on a
24x7x365 basis.

○ Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.

○ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
